REQUIREMENTS
FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN VISA TO ENTER BRAZIL

Eligibility
for Tourist Visa as follows:

Visit
to friends/relatives

Scientists,
professors, or researchers, attending cultural technological,
or scientific conferences, seminars or meeting (services provided
must not be paid by organizations/companies in Brazil, except
for reimbursement of expenses or per diem allowances.
If you are eligible for a tourist visa, as above, a letter of invitation from the conference organizers in Brazil is required and a letter from the applicant detailing the participation at the conference

Participation
in artistic or amateur sport competitions, whenever no monetary
prize or paid admission is involved
Consular
jurisdiction applies to all visas for Brazil.
This information applies to applicants who are residents of the
following states in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of Brazil in San Francisco: Alaska, Oregon,
and Washington, and in the State of California, the counties of Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, Del Norte, El Dorado, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Inyo, Kings, Lake, Lassen, Ladera, Marin, Mariposa, Mendocino, Merced, Modoc, Mono, Monteray, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Benedito, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Shasta, Sierra, Siskyou, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislau, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tulare, Tuolunme, Yolo, Yuma. . If you do not
reside in one of these states, please go back and click on the abbreviation
for your state of residence to obtain the correct form and intructions
for your tourist visa.
Submit
the Following:
- U.S.
Passport (not a copy), must be valid for 6 months from date
of entry, and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 1 Brazil
Visa Application form, completed and signed
- Completed
Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
- 1 recent
passport-type photograph
- If your visa application mentions "visiting friends" please provide a letter of invitaton from your host in Brazil
- If you are attending a conference in Brazil, a letter of invitation from the conference organizers in Brazil is required
- Copy
of round trip airline tickets -OR- letter from travel agent
confirming round-trip tickets will be issued. Itinerary is
NOT ACCEPTED unless showing ticket number(s), or that the
ticket is paid for.
Minor Children:(Under 18 Years)

In the event of absent parent(s), a notarized letter of parental consent authorizing the Consulate General of Brazil to issue a visa, signed by the absent parent(s) or guardian(s).

application will be hand carried to the Consulate, and is usually
processed in 7 business days. The Consulate does not accept or process visas on Fridays. Friday should not be counted as a processing day.

Visa
- Validity
- Visa
is usually valid for entry within 90 days of the issue date,
and then becomes valid after the first entry, for multiple
entries for a further five years. If not used within 90 days
of issue date the visa automatically expires. The period of
stay in Brazil, of each entry, is up to three months.
Visa
Notes:
- Children under age 18 not travelling
with both parents must provide a notarized
parental consent form, signed by the absent parent(s).
- Children under 18 must submit
a copy of their birth certificate even if they are traveling
with both parents
- Applicants under 18 will only
receive a visa for 90 days stay.
- Int'l Certificate of Vaccination
showing valid polio vaccination s required for all children
age 7 and under.
- International Certificate of
Vaccination for yellow fever is required if entering Brazil
from an infected area.
- The Brazil tourist or business
visa is usually valid for entry into Brazil within 90 days
of issue date. The tourist visa is then valid for multiple
entry for threee months to five years, for a stay of up to 90 days each time.
- There are nine different Brazilian
consular offices in the U.S.-- each issues its own application
form and requirements may vary.
