Helpful Information (Visa Validity)

As of January 11, 2010, Brazil is no longer issuing visas that bear "first entry within 90 days from the date of issue" allowing travelers to schedule their trips more freely. Brazilian visas are usually good for multiple entries for the time of the visa's duration. If necessary, an extension may be obtained from the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to its expiration, for a total stay of up to 180 days per year. If visa was issued prior to January 11, 2010, it must be used within 90 days of issue date, if not used the visa will expire.

Whenever the planned stay exceeds 90 days, registration with the Federal Police in Brazil is mandatory within 30 days from first arrival in the country (together with the passport, the original visa application form, which will be returned to the applicant by the Consular Service once the visa is issued, must be submitted).

Additional Helpful Information

The Embassy processing fee is non-refundable. Visa applications which are rejected by the Embassy for reasons of incomplete or missing documents, or lacking specific business letter details, may be returned WITHOUT the Embassy Consular fee.

The prior authorization by the Ministry of Labor may be waived for an emergency situation requiring the immediate presence of visa applicant in Brazil; beneficiaries, however, cannot apply for another emergency visa within a 6-month period.

As applicable, yellow fever vaccination certificate is required only if the applicant has traveled within the last 90 days to any of the following countries: Angola, Benin, Bissau Guinea, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cabo Verde, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Colombia, Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, French Guiana, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guiana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenia, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Panama, Peru, Rwanda, Sao Tome & Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, Surinam, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda or Venezuela. Yellow fever vaccination is advisable if applicant's destination in Brazil includes any of the following States: Acre, Amapá, Amazonas, Federal District, Goiás, Maranhão, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Rondônia, Roraima and/or Tocantins;
