Passport
Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

Please send 1 recent professional passport-type photograph.

Proof of US Status
Photocopy of Alien Registration Card (Green Card) -or- evidence of legal status in USA (valid visa plus I-94 in passport)
Proof of Departure
Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.
Invitation Letter
A letter of invitation from Bulgarian host ( on standard form, provided by the local authorities)
Medical Insurance
Provide copy of Medical Insurance policy with coverage of at least $5000.00 valid in Bulgaria.

Business Letter(Business Visa Only)
A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Bulgaria, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

TDS Order Form
You must complete the Online Order Form.
The order form gives TDS your name, address, shipping information and payment method. Multiple applicants can be entered using one order form. You only need to complete one TDS order form per request. Please print two copies of the confirmation page. Include one copy with the documents you ship to TDS and keep one copy for your records.
While completing the online order form in this step, you will be asked how you want to pay TDS fees. You may pay our fees online with a credit card or enclose a personal or business check or money order.

Additional Helpful Information
# Multi Entry visas are normally issued to business persons whose business contacts in Bulgaria require frequent entries into the country. The Bulgarian Embassy requires prior approval from Sofia for the issue of Multi Entry visas. Visa processing time is subject to the discretion of the Embassy.
# Visas are valid for three months from date of issue and may be extended before the date of expiration.
# Citizens of the USA and the European Union (holders of regular passports) are not required Bulgarian visas for a stay of up to 90 days. However, a border tax of approximately US $20 is payable on entry. If planning to stay more than 90 days, or traveling on diplomatic or official passport, a visa is required and must be obtained in advance.
# For motorists a national drivers license is required. Motor vehicle insurance can be arranged at the Bulgarian border point of entry for nominal fee.
# Medical Insurance - Upon entering the country the visitor must have travel/medical insurance, covering emergency medical expenses, repatriation, transportation of mortal remains, funeral, hospitalization. The coverage should be for at least $5000. If the visitor has an insurance of this type, valid for Bulgaria, a copy of the policy (with legible policy number, company name, duration of validity and sum of coverage) or a letter from the insurance company containing these data, should be submitted upon application. If the applicant has no such insurance, he/she can apply for a visa without it, but the insurance should be obtained after the Consular Officer informs the applicant that the visa request is approved. The visa will then be issued as soon as the applicant submits a copy of the insurance policy (with legible policy number, company name, duration of validity and sum of coverage) or a letter from the insurance company containing these data, by fax (202-234-7973), by mail or in person.
