• A 10 years (depending upon the remaining validity of your passport) multiple entry visa may be available for business visitors at the non-refundable Consulate/Embassy fee of $253.00. An invitation from a Joint Venture partner in India requesting this visa is required. If this visa is not approved, a one year multiple entry visa will be substituted and no partial refund of the fee is available from the Consulate.

• The letter must state all of the following
  • The nature of the business performed
  • The name of the business reference to be visited

  • Guarantee return transportation to the USA.
  • The business letter should be signed by a company officer other than the applicant.

Student Visa

• 1 Application form, you must complete, print and sign the ONLINE visa form (Caution: any typographical error may result in the application being rejected)
• 2 Passport-type photographs required
• Airline or Travel agency itinerary showing departure from the USA
• Admission Letter: A letter confirming admission from a recognized institution along with evidence of financial arrangements for stay in India.
• Medical or Paramedical Courses: In case of admission in medical or paramedical courses in India, a letter of Approval or No objection certificate from the Ministry of Health, Government of India is required.
• Engineering/Technical Graduate Courses: For admission to graduate or post-graduate courses in engineering/technical institutions in India, a letter of approval or a No objection certificate from the Ministry of Human Resources Development (Department of Education) is required.
• You must submit a clear photocopy of your DRIVER'S LICENSE as proof of residence in the Consulate's area of jurisdiction - Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, Oregon, Utah, Washington, Wyoming.

    Note: If applicantions for the five year or ten year visa are not granted (this happens rarely), a one year multiple entries visa will be substituted. The difference in Consular fees is not refunded by the Embassy of India and therefore cannot be refunded by TDS.

    Please note that non-US citizens who are short term visa holders will be charged a reference fee of $20.00 in addition to the total fees listed above. US Green card holders and those who have a US long term visa (3 years or more) will not be charged the reference fee.

  Note

  • The India visa is valid for multiple entries from the date of issue for 6 months, or 1 year. Your visit to India must be completed prior to the expiration of the visa, or prior to end of the period of stay granted by India Immigration authorities, whichever comes first. Consular jurisdiction applies to all visas for India. This information pertains to applicants who are residents of the following states:
  • Religious ministers applying for tourist visas must write a letter declaring they will not perform religious ceremonies while visiting India. Religious visas otherwise may take several weeks to issue.

  REGISTER YOUR TRIP:
  The U.S. Department of State encourages all American travelers to register with their local Embassy or Consulate when arriving in a foreign country. Registration helps the Embassy to provide important services for American citizens residing or traveling abroad. Some of these services include:

  • Locating individuals in cases of family or personal emergencies, Relaying important travel and safety information about the region, Arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest, Issuing replacement passports when originals are lost, and
  • A number of other administrative services relating to personal documentation.

  Without the information provided through registration, the Embassy is severely hindered in its ability to provide these services. Many of these services involve emergency situations and time constraints, therefore failure to register will almost certainly lead to delays at moments when you can least afford them.
