REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN A BURKINESE TOURIST VISA




Passport

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

 

Photo

Please send 2 recent professional passport-type photographs.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.

Proof of Departure

Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

You must complete the Online Order Form.

The order form gives TDS your name, address, shipping information and payment method. Multiple applicants can be entered using one order form. You only need to complete one TDS order form per request. Please print two copies of the confirmation page. Include one copy with the documents you ship to TDS and keep one copy for your records.

While completing the online order form in this step, you will be asked how you want to pay TDS fees. You may pay our fees online with a credit card or enclose a personal or business check or money order.

Additional Helpful Information

The Burkina Faso tourist or business visa is usually valid for five years from date issued, for a stay not to exceed 90 days.

Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is not required at time of visa issuance, however the Embassy of Burkina Faso advises that it must be presented upon arrival.

Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued. TDS can assist with obtaining U.S. Passports, whether new issue, renewal, or obtaining additional visa pages for a valid passport.

Your application will be hand carried to the Embassy, and is usually processed in 3-4 business days. Rush service is available in 1-2 business days for an additional fee of $50.00.

Be aware that photographing airports, military barracks and the vicinity of government offices is prohibited by law.  

The national currency is the CFA franc, a common currency for Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Niger, Senegal, and Togo. A fix exchange rate has been defined for CFA franc and Euro: CFA F 655.95= Euro 1.  

Transportation: in Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Banfora and Koudougou, taxis and car rental are available at reasonable fares;

Accommodations: hotels, inns, motels and camps are available in all cities, and in tourist and safari areas at wide-ranging prices.
