Visa Information
  • For U.S. Citizens - No Visa required for non-extendable stay up to three months. Australia joined the U.S. Visa Waiver Pilot Program in July 1996. However, an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) is required. The ETA should be obtained approx 30 days before departure, as rejection may take a few days to resolve. The ETA can usually be issued by most travel agents or by telephone with the Australian-bound airline carrier.
  • Visa applications not fully completed may result in delays in processing. Try not to leave any question blank. Tourism is considered to be sightseeing only. If attending a conference or visiting a business associate, follow instructions for business visa.
  • Passport must contain two blank facing pages in order for a visa to be issued. TDS can have additional pages added to your U.S. passport, call TDS for application forms.
  • Persons staying over 3 months in Australia are also required to supply a copy of the round trip itinerary and proof of sufficient funds for support in Australia. Also include a letter detailing your travel plans while in Australia.
  • Special requirements exist for Official and Diplomatic passport holders.

REGISTER YOUR TRIP:

The U.S. Department of State encourages all American travelers to register with their local Embassy or Consulate when arriving in a foreign country. Registration helps the Embassy to provide important services for American citizens residing or traveling abroad. Some of these services include:
  • Locating individuals in cases of family or personal emergencies,
  • Relaying important travel and safety information about the region,
  • Arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest,
  • Issuing replacement passports when originals are lost, and
  • A number of other administrative services relating to personal documentation.
Without the information provided through registration, the Embassy is severely hindered in its ability to provide these services. Many of these services involve emergency situations and time constraints, therefore failure to register will almost certainly lead to delays at moments when you can least afford them.

INFORMATION AND FEES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
