• Submit your Passport, must have at least 6 months remaining validity, and at least one blank visa page.
• 2 Visa application forms, completed and signed
• 2 Recent passport-type photos
• Completed Cover Page and Credit Card Authorization forms (print from browser)
• Copy of U.S. Alien Registration Card (Green Card) or valid U.S. employment visa (U.S. B1/B2 visa not accepted).
• Copy of itinerary or air tickets showing round trip.
• A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
  
  Embassy of Japan, Visa Section, Washington DC.
  
  The letter must explain all of the following:
• Purpose of travel,
• Company to be visited in Japan
• Guarantee financial support and return transportation to U.S.A.
• Letter must be signed by a company officer other than the traveler.
• Letter of invitation from company in Japan (not mandatory, but helps to expedite the visa)
• Some nationalities are required to obtain an official guarantee letter, notarized, from the host company in Japan.
• Some nationalities may experience additional visa costs and delays of up to six weeks with the issue of a Japan visa.

Fees

The U.S. Department of State encourages all American travelers to register with their local Embassy or Consulate when arriving in a foreign country. Registration helps the Embassy to provide important services for American citizens residing or traveling abroad. Some of these services include:

• Locating individuals in cases of family or personal emergencies,
• Relaying important travel and safety information about the region,
• Arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest,
• Issuing replacement passports when originals are lost, and
• A number of other administrative services relating to personal documentation.

Without the information provided through registration, the Embassy is severely hindered in its ability to provide these services. Many of these services involve emergency situations and time constraints, therefore failure to register will almost certainly lead to delays at moments when you can least afford them.
