How do I know if my passport is damaged?
Your passport is probably considered damaged if:
- it has water damage
- the passport cover is ripped or torn or the coating is peeling away
- the personal data page has damage like a rip, tear or hole
- if you passport has markings on the personal data page that are not official
- or if a visa page is missing or torn out.
Normal usage of a passport, like a slight bend from carrying the book in your pocket or the pages not closing fully after repeated opening and closing does not constitute significant damage, and in most cases is not cause for replacement.
