The Chinese Consulate in Los Angeles has changed the requirements for minors applying for a Chinese visa.

Additional documentation required for minors aged under 18.

Applicants under the age of 18 must provide their original birth certificate, plus their parents original passports if the parents are not applying for visas at the same time as the minor. If a parent does not have a passport they must provide a copy of a notarized ID and a signed notarized letter of parental consent, if only one parent is applying for a visa then there must be a copy of the parents passport or a notarized ID, plus a letter of parental consent.
