Document Requirements

These requirements are applicable for Non-US Citizens applying for an Afghanistan Business visa in Washington DC

PassportPassport

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. 
Your passport must be valid 6 months beyond your intended stay and must have at least two blank visa pages back to back within the passport. 

Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.

A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If your passport is not valid 6 months beyond intended stay, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

Effective September 21st, 2018, The Afghanistan embassy now requires a passport to have Two blank visa pages, these two blank pages MUST BE back to back and labeled VISAS at the top of the page.

A Photocopy of Permanent Resident Card (Green Card) or valid U.S. visa and I-94 is required.
Travelers who entered the USA after April 26th, 2013 should print the electronic I-94 form from the
Department of Homeland Security.

Please send a copy of your round-trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

 

 

Approval NumberApproval Number

Your host organization/company in Afghanistan MUST request an approval number from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul before you can apply for a visa.

Referral LetterReferral Letter

It is required for all Kabul based institutions/organizations to contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul and request the referral letter for all invitees and staff who are visiting Afghanistan.

Business LetterBusiness Letter

A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Afghanistan, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Name and address of reference to be visited
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
Applicants passport number
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

The Business letter provided must be an original with an original signature. The Embassy of Afghanistan will not accept a copy.

JournalistsJournalists

Media personnel/journalists are required to provide an introduction letter stating the purpose, duration, and places they intend to visit in Afghanistan. (Media journalists must contact Press Office of the Directorate of Media Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, located at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at:
