Document Requirements

These requirements are applicable for US Citizens applying for a Nigerian STR visa in New York

Documents Submission Arrangement OrderDocuments Submission Arrangement Order

Documents below should be submitted in four duplicate sets and arranged in the following order:

Page 1 – Form (online form) with one (1) colored passport sized photograph (on white background) attached.
Page 2 – Copy of letter of request from the company addressed to the Consulate General of Nigeria requesting STR visa for the applicant, this must contain the applicant’s full name.
Page 3 – Copy of expatriate quota stating position of employment
Page 4 – Copy of employment letter stating position employment
Page 5 – Copy of applicant’s signed acceptance letter stating position of employment
Page 6 – Copies of qualifications: degree, diploma certificates matching those mentioned on the resume.
Page 7 – Copy of credentials, certificated curriculum vitae or resume , all vetted by a relevant official of Nigerian High Commission/Embassy (English Certified translated copy where applicable)
Page 8 – Copy of Flight Itinerary

PassportPassport

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport, plus four photocopies of the vital information page. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.
A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

Please send four copies of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket.   The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

Vaccination CertificateVaccination Certificate

The best choice of vaccines for your trip depends on many individual factors, including your precise travel plans. Vaccines commonly recommended for travelers to Africa include those against Tetanus, Diphtheria, Polio, Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Yellow fever, Malaria Rabies and Meningitis.

Certificate is required for entry into, or travel between, some African countries. Several of these vaccines require more than one dose, or take time to become effective. It is always best to seek advice from your doctor on immunization well in advance, if possible around 6 weeks before departure.

The government of Nigeria requires the original yellow fever vaccination certificate upon arrival in Nigeria.

For Malaria, talk to your doctor about how to prevent malaria while traveling. You may need to take prescription medicine before, during, and after your trip to prevent malaria, especially if you are visiting low-altitude areas.

Your yellow fever vaccination certificate is not required as part of the visa application process, you must have the original certificate on arrival in Nigeria.

(4.) 4 passport sized photographs
(5.) Flight Itinerary (at least a copy of a flight booking, showing arrival and departure)
(6.) Spouse’s Bank Statement (showing adequate funds FOR STRS’ A MINIMUM OF $500 IN CREDIT NO MORE THAN 3 MONTHS OLD AT TIME OF SUBMISSION).

MinorsMinors

(1.) Passport and copy of data page(s) Passports should have a minimum of 6 months validity.
(2.) Copy of online application form (SIGNED AND DATED)
(3.) 4 passport sized photographs
(4.) Copies of the child/children’s birth certificate (4 Copies).

Please complete and sign one online application form, plus three additional copies.

Note: Follow the step by step online instructions. Your application must be submitted online and the appropriate Visa fee paid for by credit card online ($160USD). When confirmed, please print a copy of your

(1) Visa Application Form,

(2) Visa Acknowledgement Slip,

(3)  Visa Payment Slip and/or Payment Receipt from Google Checkout then mail all three to TDS for processing, along with all other requirements detailed above. Failure to fully complete the visa application form will delay processing the visa.

Be sure to select New York as the processing location on the visa application form.
