These requirements are applicable for US Citizens applying for a Rwanda Transit visa in Washington DC

Pre Travel InformationPre Travel Information

All travellers transiting through Rwanda must complete a Passenger Locator Form before departure, present a negative COVID-19 test result issued no more than 72 hours before departure, and undergo a COVID-19 PCR test on arrival at their own expense. Transiting travellers who are not leaving the airport and those who are staying at the designated transit hotels for less than 24 hours are exempt from taking the COVID-19 PCR test on arrival.

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.
A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

Applicants are required to have a confirmed onward booking from Rwanda to a third country or other acceptable plans to depart Rwanda within 72 hours of arrival.
Applicants must have correct documentation for entry to that third country.

Transit visas may only be extended in exceptional circumstances. In such exceptional circumstances a new transit visa will be issued for up to a further 72 hours.
Work is not permitted on a transit visa.

Vaccinations - A copy of your International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever is required if you are arriving from a Yellow Fever infected country.

A copy of your International Certificate of Vaccination for Yellow Fever is required to apply for your visa if you will be arriving in Rwanda from an infected area. You MUST carry your ORIGINAL certificate when traveling to Rwanda.
