These requirements are applicable for US Citizens applying for an India Tourist visa in Houston
The information on this page outlines the requirements, fees, processing times and process to apply for a traditional stamped Indian visa. The Indian government offers a lower cost e-Tourist Visa option outlined below.
The Indian e-Tourist visa is an excellent alternative to a traditional stamped visa. If you do not have enough time to apply for a stamped visa or you only intend to enter India twice.
The traditional stamped visa option takes an average of 1-2 weeks to be completed if you are running close to your U.S. departure date the e-Visa takes only 1-4 days to be issued.
Indian e-Visas are only valid for 120 days from date of issue for a double entry up to 60 day stay, it's a great low cost alternative to the stamped visa method.
Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least two blank side by side visa pages. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Ammendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.
A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If you do not have at least two blank side by side visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.
Please send 2 recent professional passport-type photographs.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.
No eye glasses are to be worn for passport photo.
