International Travelers whose sole objective of visiting India is recreation, sightseeing, casual visit to meet friends or relatives, short duration medical treatment or casual business visit.
Tourist Visa-on-Arrival Known as Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) was announced on November 26th 2014 by the Indian Government.
Little to no advanced information was made public leading up to the announcement all major Tour Operators, Airlines and Visa Services (TDS) were caught off guard.

Although this new visa should make traveling to India for USA citizens easier, it does have some substantial restrictions.
Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) is valid for entry through nine designated airports ONLY.
Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Goa, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Trivandrum.
The validity of the visa will be 30 days from date of issue, good for a single entry into India and valid for a stay of up to 30 days.
Passport should have at least 6 months validity.
Travelers should have a return ticket or onward journey ticket, with sufficient money to spend during his/her stay in India.
Processing time for ETA will take 4 to 5 business days.
Applicants should carry a copy of issued ETA along with him or her at the time of travel.
Biometric details(fingerprints) of the applicant will be mandatorily captured by immigration officials on arrival at the airport in India.
Tourist Visa On Arrival (ETA) is allowed for a maximum of two visits in a calendar year.
Tourist Visa On Arrival (ETA) once issued on arrival is non-extendable, non convertible and not valid for visting Protected/Restricted and Cantonment Areas.
Not available to Diplomatic/Official Passport Holders.
