These requirements are applicable for US Citizens applying for a Kenya Business visa in Washington DC

How it WorksHow it Works

The Kenyan Government issues two types of visas, an e-Visa (electronic visa) and a traditional visa stamped into your passport.

Traveldocs recommends applying for an e-Visa if you only require a single entry visa for Kenya, if a multiple entry visa is required please apply for the traditional stamped visa.

The e-Visa is valid for a single entry only, good for 90 days from date of issue for stay up to 90 days extendable for up to an additional 90 days while in country. Very easy to apply for does not required sending your physical passport to traveldocs, can be issued in as little as 24 hours (Monday - Friday) cost effective option.

Traditional Visa valid for multiple entries into Kenya good for 6 months from date of issue for stay up to 90 days extendable for up to an additional 90 days while in country. This option requires your physical passport and supporting documents to be sent to traveldocs for submission to the Kenyan Embassy for processing, although slightly more complicated and expensive to apply for this option is best if you require more than one entry into Kenyan as part of your intineary and or you may return to Kenya with 6 months.

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. It must not expire within 6 months and must have at least one blank visa page. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.
A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.

Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.

 

 

Business LetterBusiness Letter

A business letter of responsibility (sample) is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Kenya, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Name and address of reference to be visited
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

Multiple Entry 5 Year VisaMultiple Entry 5 Year Visa

Kenya offers a 5 year multiple entry visa option, at this time TDS is unable to assist in processing this visa type due to the visa processing time frame of 1-6 months.
The Kenyan embassy asks for 15-20 business days to process a 5 year visa, however the processing option often goes way beyond 15-20 days often as much as 6 months.
If or when the visa is denied or the applicant decides not to continue the process the visa consular fee will not be refunded by the embassy.
 
For these reasons TDS is no longer able to assist in processing this visa type.

The KENYA business visa is issued for a single entry for a period of 6 months from date of issue, provided the passport remains valid, for a period of stay not to exceed 90 days - extension possible.

A 6 month multiple entry visa is also offered. 

A single entry Visa would allow re-entry to Kenya from any of the following East African Countries (Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, Rwanda)

Although vaccination certificate is not required for visa issuance, check with physician or local health clinic for vaccination requirements and recommendations.

Passport must have at least six months remaining validity and contain at least one blank visa page for visa to be issued. TDS can assist with obtaining U.S Passports, whether new issue, renewal, or obtaining additional visa pages for a valid passport.
