How soon do you need your Uganda East Africa Tourist Visa for U.S. Citizens?
As an ongoing consequence of the global pandemic actual visa processing is typically taking longer than the usual times published here even in some instances where there is an option for the payment of higher consular fees for expedited processing. If you have a particularly tight departure please send us a note at at the time you create your order to confirm it can reasonably be fulfilled in the current environment otherwise please just be aware of the possibility of delayed processing.

If you cancel your order after we have submitted your documents to a Consulate for processing there will be a $35.00 cancellation fee and your consular fees may not be refundable. Please do NOT contact consulates directly for status or with instructions once your documents have been submitted unless they contact you as this can cause processing to be delayed or declined.

Document Requirements

These requirements are applicable for US Citizens applying for a Uganda East Africa Tourist visa in New York

Effective August 1 2016, Uganda’s visa on arrival program has officially ended.

Visitors who arrive at either Entebbe International Airport or the various land borders without having applied for and obtained an visa in advance will be denied boarding by your airline or entry at a land border check point.
Airlines have been informed to deny boarding to any passengers heading to Uganda unless they can show proof of having applied for a visa and obtained one in advance.

The Uganda Government issues two types of visas: An e-Visa (electronic visa) and a traditional visa stamped into your passport.

TravelDocs recommends applying for an e-Visa if you only require a single entry visa for Uganda If a multiple entry visa is required please apply for the traditional stamped visa.

The e-Visa is valid for a single entry only, good for 90 days from date of issue for a stay up to 90 days. It is very easy to apply for and does not required sending your physical passport to TravelDocs. It can be issued in as little as 24 hours (Monday - Friday) and is a cost-effective option.

A Traditional Stamped Visa is valid for multiple (or single) entries into Uganda, good for 3-6 months from date of issue for a stay up to 30-90 days. This option requires your physical passport and supporting documents to be sent to TravelDocs for submission to the Uganda Embassy for processing. Although slightly more complicated and expensive to apply for this option is best if you require more than one entry into Uganda as part of your itinerary and/or you may return to Uganda with 6 months.

On March 31st 2014, The Governments of Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda announced the joint "East Africa Tourist Visa".
This new visa category was created to help promote tourist travel to these three countries. If you are traveling too all three or any combination of these countries you can apply for one visa to be valid for all three.
The East Africa Tourist visa will be valid for 90 days and good for multiple entries into any combination of the three countries, however the visa is only valid if you stay within the region (African Continent) if you leave the region the visa is no longer valid for a return to any of the three countries. You must apply for another visa before returning to Uganda, Rwanda or Kenya.
If you wish to apply for this visa you must apply with the first country you are entering into. If your first country is not Uganda please click on Kenya or Rwanda for instructions.

Please send TDS your current valid and signed passport. Passport must be valid 6 months beyond the expected date of departure from Uganda must have at least two clear visa pages adjacent to each other. Foreign Embassies cannot issue a visa on a page not labeled as a Visa page. Amendment and Endorsement pages in the back of the passport cannot be used for issuance of a visa.
A visa cannot be stamped on a page even if only one Small Stamp is on the visa page. If you do not have any blank visa pages in your passport, TDS can assist you in applying for additional pages. If your passport expires within 6 months, you must renew your passport and then we will secure your visa with the new passport.
